The Challenge
In Iceland, making sure workplaces are safe, especially when using heavy machinery, is very important. But learning all the theory needed to get a license for using work machines was difficult for Icelandic workers. The usual teaching methods were not interesting or easy to use, so it was hard for people to learn and remember everything they needed to know. The Icelandic Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) saw the need for a solution to these problems that would make work machine training better.
The Solution
To meet this challenge, our team worked on a project with Icelandic OSHA to make a new course. We used the latest educational technology to make a course that would give Icelandic workers all the theory they need to use work machines. The course has videos that let users pretend they are using machines in real life and learn about safety. There are also modules that let users learn about different machines in a virtual way. To make hard ideas and words easier, we used infographics to show things clearly.
The Impact
The new course has changed work machine training for Icelandic workers. By using interesting content and interactive parts, we have fixed the problems with learning theory and made it easier for people to remember what they need to know to be safe. Now, workers have a new way to learn that follows the rules and helps them be safe and good at using work machines. This means Icelandic workplaces have workers who know a lot and are safe, which makes work better for everyone.

In this case study, we have shown how our new way of teaching work machine use has helped Icelandic OSHA and given workers the knowledge and skills they need to use heavy machinery safely and well. By working together and doing good work, we are making workplaces safer for everyone in Iceland.
